Miesha Tate will face Ronda Rousey if the champion defends her title this weekend.

Miesha Tate has set up a third potential title fight against Ronda Rousey after unanimous decision victory against Jessica Eye in the UFC Fight Night co-main event at the United Centre in Chicago.

UFC President Dana Whiteconfirmed Tate as the no.1 contender for the batamweight title that Rousey will defend against Bethe Correia this weekend in Brazil.

“She has fought and worked her way back to Ronda,” White said.

Despite controlling the fight early in the first round, Eye was no match up for Tate who finished the first round with a series of ground strikes. Tate’s right hand continued to give Eye trouble in the second round with the latter being knocked down and recovering quickly. After a slow start in the third, Tate took Eye’s back but the referee surprisingly stood the fighters with 30 seconds to go. Tate would win on decision 30 to 27.

Following the fight, Tate sent a warning to the current champion on a possible re-match.

“I love punching Ronda in the face,” Tate said. “Ronda Rousey doesn’t like to be hit.”

Tate lost the Strikeforce Women’s Bantamweight Championship to Rousey by armbar in 2012. The submission loss was repeated in 2013 as the two competed in the first women’s fight in the UFC for the inaugural batamweight title.
